Better to spoil a pair of cheap kick plates than to have the sills rot away unseen

Thanks Mike! Good point... Though skill level to mend the sills may be beyond me. Will have a go at removing once my dismantling fluid has come - so may be after it has its MOT on Friday. Luckily for the future, its going to be kept dry all the time - apart from when its being used, so hopefully that will help a bit.
If I can get the nuts off.. is it worth buys new ones when fixing back on? If so where and what sort would they be?

If the bolts won't come undone just cut them off with an angle grinder and remove the sill finisher. Replace bolts and washers with new after inspection and cut them to size so only two threads show when they are tightened up. Cover with copper slip off course. Bolt size 3/16 bsf or unf or 5mm.

Also found a classic car garage near who are capable of doing some of the bigger jobs Im not yet up to.. so Im just crossing fingers that on Friday when I take it - they don't tell me its a basket case!

I used M6 stainless on mine and copperslip. There's been no corrosion due to dissimiar metals (before anyone asks) and I can have the sill covers off in 10 mins now.

The ones that don't come off tend to get snapped, no need to grind them

Ha - oh well - prepare for some photos once Ive managed to do it. May be next week - but then have a weeks holiday - so might be sulking for that if I find lots of rust
