Re: trafficators. I always thought they were meant to come out....stay out.....and flash. I never knew they actually went in-and-out, making a clunky noise.

It is not a van bonnet, it is a Series MM bonnet. The van has the same centre badges but does not have the badges on the sides of the bonnet or the raised side strips.
The chassis number is on the plate on the bulkhead under the bonnet.

It says car number 197924?.

Z13823 is stamped at the top of the bulkhead on the nearside.

Got an old AA badge that I wanted to fit to the grill. Alas, no room to get in between radiator & grill.
Anybody know the quickest (and easiest) way of doing this? I know I'll have to undo a bolt or two......Thanks.

Do you mean they are going in and out when you operate the switch or just go out and stay out , if the first they are wired up incorrectly and they dont flash when out. they should be wired so that indicator flashes and the trafficators remain out. some one has a wiring diagram to achieve this and will point you in the right direction to find it soon

They are going in and out.....at least one of them is. The other one is staying in, but you can hear a whirring sound, like it's trying to come out.

To fit a badge to that grill you have to remove the rad. Two bolts either side and top and bottom hoses. Personally I would wait until I had to take the rad out
If the trafficators and indicators are operated by the same switch then you need two flasher units, one for left and one for right indicators, see wiring diagram on http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk. Tech Info, Trafficator and Indicator Wiring Diagram

Dont attempt to pull the trafficator arm up as you may bend the mechanism, once you have the inside trim off you may be able to push down the actuating rod to make the arm swing out the noise you can hear is the electro magnet trying to swing the arm up. do you have the service manual actual, or digital version that you can download from the other site this will help you alot in your ownership of your morris

Found out that the trafficators were wired by a firm called Minor Miracles. They actually called me today after I'd emailed them. Bloke says a little WD40 should free off the stuck one. I'm assuming they have a good reputation and knew what they were doing?

That's what I thought I said

I know, mike. I was responding to the suggestion that they might be wired incorrectly.

Yes he does! Like me, he doesn't like those nasty headlight peaks which can be the difference between a nasty shock and a horrendous cut in the event of a low-speed accident. Please bin them (or Roy's train may get diverted to the borders which are not so far from its home.......). 'part from that looks very pretty - good luck with the trafficators!

Thank you all. Fitted electronic ignition today....well impressed. Don't think I'll go back to points/condenser ever again.
Took less than half-an-hour, even allowing for a couple of minor modifications. :)

Does anyone have statistics of how many people have been slashed to death by MM headlamp peaks?Possibly a similar number to those harpooned by the fins of a reversing '59 Cadillac Eldorado.Health and safety scaremongering I reckon.
