Update time again, seems so long since the last one, but the garage has been busy, which is bad in that I haven`t had much time to work on the Moggy, but good because it`s bringing in the money to pay for it ;)

So, having got the boot, bonnet and front panel in primer, they were put away safely so I could work on the main body. I hit it with the DA but sadly, the lower layers of paint hadn`t set properly so the edges wouldn`t feather out like they should, which would mean the shrinkage would show through when primed and painted. Only one thing for it, it had to go down to bare metal



That`s what it looked like after 3 coats of stripper and a fair bit of elbow grease

Underneath all the paint, the body was actually in really good nick, with just a couple of very small dents and a couple of minor imperfections. All were easily filled and it was then given a few coats of primer. Now I know some purists will say to etch prime, red oxide then prime, but I spoke to my mate who painted it and he said there`s no need for all that if a decent primer is used. I saw the tin and it`s a self etching, high build 2 pack primer and works an absolute treat.



After priming a good coat of guide coat was applied, then pushed into the paintshop and we set to rubbing the primer down. More elbow grease

I left my mate to it and paced around outside the paintshop like an expectant father

A couple of hours later and several coats of 2 Pack Old English White paint I was allowed to see the finished article.



To say I was impressed is an understatement, I just couldn`t belive it. The pictures really don`t do the paintjob justice, the depth of colour is beautiful
Fitted a few bits under the bonnet just to see what it would look like


A couple of days ago, we gave the boot and bonnet the same treatment and fitted them to stop them getting damaged ;)

To get right up to date, I`ve started on the brakes. The master cylinder looks far worse than it actually is. Inside is like brand new, so it`s had a set of seal in it and been bench pressure tested with perfect results. It`s fitted and I`ve started making the brake pipes.
