HI John

Yes maybe the answer after all else fails Ill freely admit my electrical skills are limited if I get anymore 2nd hand dynamos Ill bench test them . looks like the voltage regulator is one of them cheap imports also

But we still don't know if the dynamo is faulty at all!!!!! The red light ON even when the dynamo is disconnected tells us that the red light is NOT the dynamo warning light! We've asked for volts readings - and so far - nothing!! So please - one last try - connect the dynamo, start the engine - run it at a fast idle and tell us the battery voltage !!!!!!!!!!!!! Trying to take readings from the dynamo is a waste of time - concentrate on the battery....... :roll:

Good Headmaster material ! Yes Ive tried the battery at 13.5v before and after dynamo plug in

If it is 13.5 volts with engine running - there is NOTHING WRONG with the charging system! Look elsewhere for the 'red light' - it's obviously not connected to the dynamo!

Thanks for your help everyone it was the points on the voltage regulator in the end , at last she is running !!
