Why do it with string as if you have already gained access gaskets are cheap :-?

But there isn't one for that location - without a doubt the "Owen Burton" type seal on the back of the motor is the real answer and I suppose a good bodger would say it costs money. But so would a rebuild when the string finds an oilway and then you get the Big Bang! Me? I'll just continue to try not to park on light driveways!
Merry Christmas to all our readers!

Wouldnt the oil filter catch any bits of hemp before it got to the oilways?

Depends on your interpretation of 'bodge'!

Especially concidering the quality of re-pro parts, you really
don't have much choice OTHER than to "bodge".

You've got it the wrong way round, many repro panels are a bodge you have to modify them properly for them to be used.

Who was it rejected that well known carpet manufacturers offer in favour of the useless piece of rubber sheet used in lcv's?

Malcolm X did protested about it in the '60s, possibly Nasser started
the ball rolling(?).

Shah of Persia flatly refused to supply to Cowley, don't know about
Wilton.

Is it home time yet?

Wilton warned of the rusty floors that would follow if rubber was used but no one listened. Something to do with the public expected rust to appear soon after purchase, so they weren't going to disappoint them! Top marks for putting their customers first.

That's what I like about this forum, start off with string and you land up with rusty floors. Merry Christmas, readers!

We used to use hemp string dipped in stag paste to make grommets for the studs and nuts on the tank top manholes on deck. At sea we called ti "marlin" :)

Never tried a Marlin!

Tried a Sea Bass, only worked for a week - smell was awful!!

Will a Salmon dipped in Stag paste work just as well?
