Ah well, there's no accounting for taste is there. *searches for a Dolly Parton CD and finds it under a Marilyn Manson CD*.

Be careful El or you are going to end up in one of these strange midlands saying courses and you have to be careful as they are very sensative, unfortunatly you come under my catagory Southerners

Just watch Peter Kay......... his accent is not too far off mine! But he does not really count as a Midlander (I don't think anyway). Bolton is a bit north I think (50 miles north of me). Then there's Robbie of course! But he does not speak much..........

OK I conceed (although most say my accent gives it away that I am from LUNDIN) but as a temporary Grockle when I go to the west country what are you termed as down there and no replys from further north as *****p Head is not allowed.

Well.............I dunno what we are called as a whole. I dont think many Cornish think of themselves as 'a whole' too much anyway. Some purists think we should be another country! Being as we're right on the end and cut off from Devon by the Tamar (nearly an island!;-)), and are often forgotten by the 'southern' beaurocrats. ;-)
(How about 'westcountry boy' or 'maid'?

)
The cornish are a different race to the rest of the westcountry, being celtic in ancestry (with a touch of spanish blood around mounts bay, from the invasion of 1595) and no anglosaxons or normans until very much later than the rest of britain - so if you come here you are an 'emmit' which means 'ant' (I guess because of the way tourists swarm along predictable routes)...rather than a grockle.
There ends the history for today.
Also better add, I'm not cornish either - a mixture of welsh, sussex and norwegian. I've just always lived here.

.....its amazing what you find when you start digging............................ ......................... bottles, mostly.

I wonder if any of the current inhabitants of Relf road know the story of how it got it's name? Fascinating stuff El!

Nothing to do with minors though. (hehehe)
Its possible, but quite unlikely that Keith Relf was related as there are quite a lot of relfs, even as far back as the norman conquest (the original ones).
....If you heard my dad play his guitar and sing, you'd agree....
