It is comforting to have seen her stripped right back and to know that there's nothing sinister lurking underneath the shiny paint

My little girl and I went out in her at the weekend and it was such fun (though she kept laughing at me for missing 3rd!).

I think the clutch needs attention as there's a juddering when I reverse slowly, and occasionally if I pull away with any hesitation. Watch out for a post in the Mechanical section soon!

Check whether the engine steady cable - which should be attached to the back of the gearbox is tight (or even there) as this will reduce the judder you are experiencing.

NO! Do NOT have the "steady cable" behind the gearbox tight. There is a steady bar or rod between the rear stud on the cylinder head and the bottom of the battery box; but the cable underneath is a restraining cable whose sole job is to stop the engine and gearbox from running forward into the radiator. The cable should be fitted with just a little slack in it - not a lot. If it is tight then it will transmit vibration to the body and stop the rubber mounts from doing their job.
