It doesn't matter - an engine that was making the noise described is not going to be any use with new shells on the big ends - at least - not for 5,500 miles of touring!
In such a situation the oil pressure doesn't matter - the pump is quite capable of making good pressure in spite of loose bearings.
When mine went I didn't ever venture out of the town in the car and didn't like using it one bit. Not an experience I'd like to repeat. On dismantling the engine it was also found that one of the big-end bearing cap bolts had stripped its thread due to the constant hammering and was floating about in the sump. Imagine what would have happened had the other bolt gave way.
