He hasn't steered me wrong yet... It is such a blessing to have y'all to confirm what he tells me, though...It is going to be expensive enough to restore my Precious, without me blowing money on something and then it get here, I find that it is not what I needed at all....

I really, seriously, appreciate y'all's help! 8)

You are obviously a whiz at this! 8) Keith took a flashlight out, looked on the face of the ignition switch and found FP 642! Thanks a bunch! :D :D :D

I almost forgot...I was going to ask, is there a bright/dim switch somewhere for the headlights? :-?
bmcecosse wrote:There is a tiny little slide switch under the dash - which switches the speedo illumination on/off - with the sidelights of course.
I hate to seem dim, but I am not clear on what you just said there...

It's generally on a push switch operated by foot to the left of the accelerator pedal on UK (non export) models. I don't know about LHD export models, but my Jeep (LHD) had the dimmer on the left as well, so worth looking to the left of the accelerator pedal.

One more thing (I expect y'all will get thoroughly tired of that phrase before too long  ) Is the choke switch supposed to stay out when you pull it out to choke it, or is it supposed to require that you hold it out? I thought it would be a pull out-stay out sort of situation.... then you could push it back in a bit, then a bit more, etc until it is no longer necessary for it to be "choked" but mine has to be held out... My husband looked and said it has a spring on it...

Thank y'all in advance for your time, your willingness to share your vast amount of knowledge and your great pool of patience!

^^^^as above pull choke switch out and twist clockwise. This usually locks it in position.

Earlier choke knobs were on a ratchet so they should stay out. On the later choke knobs you need to twist the end of the cable as you clamp it at the carb end. You then pull the choke control out and twist and release for it to return.
The alternative method is to use a wooden clothes peg to hold it out, the peg is then clipped to the stem of the rear view mirror

I'm sure it is something that I am not doing correctly...

I will tell my husband about twisting and clamping it at the carb end...and then if THAT doesn't work, I DO happen to have a good supply of wooden clothes-pins laid in, so.... yeah, if all else fails, that ought to get it! :D

I really DO appreciate all the time and info that y'all pass my way! 8)

Thanks y'all!
