From what I've learned since I made the first post, all the speedometers for these cars and most cars of their era are the same movement. They differ only in the case, gearing for the odometer and the dial printing (or style of dial if other make of car) So a 1098 speedo goes up to 90-mph. The cars have a "higher top speed" the lower the diff ratio. and 30 mph is 10% lower down the dial on a 1098 than a 948. So you can fit a later movement in an earlier speedo provided you change the dials and if you are a purist, the odometer gears. But does it really matter too much if the miles recorded are 10% higher?. I suppose it depends on how many miles you do a year.
