It was the seatbelt bolts after all, filed down a bit and it's stopped it.

I had the same phenomenon. Inspection of the driveshaft (propshaft to ya'll) revealed a thin but unmistakable scoring that lined up perfectly with the seat belt bolts. After a switch to 7-leaf Traveller springs it will still happen, but only rarely, with weight in the back and going over a hefty bump. And before you ask, the seat belt bolts were as short as I could safely use.
