Are you sure those are welds?? looks more like the patch has been held on with seam sealer or builders adhesive! :o If that is welding it does not look strong and with such poor penetration you could probably lever the patch off with a screwdriver.


I think your car needs to come off the road for a while for a proper restoration. The quality of those patches and welding looks very poor.

Whatever you do, please don't fill your sills with expanding foam as one member of this forum advocates! :o :(

There is a seam weld, be it rather thin, around most of the edge, the filler is covering it up.

Oh it's well and truly off the road. I bought it a while ago for a good price and took it apart straight away. There have been a couple of minor, shall we say bodge repairs, but I kinda expected that. It was sat for at least a year before we bought it and as it's going to be our ONLY form of transport, I wanted to get it as safe and sound as I can.
