Thanks for that. Another case of replacements not quite fitting! Dont get me started on the lights!

I'll be tinkering with the heater pipe later as I think it can be pushed out a little to get the angles right. No old stock unfortunately. Ive now had the car off the road longer than I used it so this month I really want it running! My Speedo readings are too low also due to the Marina diff . I was pictured by a Gatso last June and sent a letter offering me points and fine. My first offence since getting my licence in 2003! A bit harsh I thought. After a bit of correspondence pleading my case I attended a speed awareness course during which there where two refernces to Morris Minors. I sat in silence! Im liking this forum anyway. Thanks for the reply!

You can probably find a Mini speedo that will correct most of the speed mismatch. What ratio is in the axle - and what size tyres?

Hi Roy,
I'm running on Toyo 155/14 tyres with a 3.9 diff. Reckon a Mini speedo would be more accurate?

What tpm is the current speedo? I use a Mini 1249 tpm speedo with 3.7 final drive and it happens to be perfect, but won't be too far out with a 3.9.

Hi Roy
The markings on the speedo are: SN-4423 / O4 and 14O8
Does this mean anything?

1408 is the tpm = turns per mile. So a 1249 from a Mini is probably the nearest you will get.

I'll probably get John Ostick to recalibrate at some stage - in the meantime I just keep a few miles shy of the indicated speed for passing speed cameras! Also have built in a compensation to my mpg spreadsheet for the time being. I am of course assuming that google maps are reasonably accurate in their distance calculations.
