Socket (which I do happen to have ) - if it comes off easily. But if tight - a pop with the chisel !

So, how big is it?
Don't worry about what thread it is for the moment, just measure across the flats and share this dimension with us. Units of your choice.

We all were-------it looks nice and undamaged - quick, pop it with a chisel so it looks like all the others....... Why do you want it off anyway?

Yes looks like it's been tightened properly. Very rare, maybe it should be in a glass case in a transport museum

I think that nut is the only think the car doesn't have wrong with it. I bloody forgot to take a tape measure!
I want the indicator stalk off as I think it has rusted up a bit and only works if I put pressure on it (i.e. away from my body) when indicating. Also the indicator light cap on the end has snapped off and I am having a nightmare trying to get rid of the tread bit still stuck in it.

Ok it took me some time to get around to measuring it but its 1 and 1/4 inch between the flats

Have you actually tried a 3/4 W socket?.
Perseverance with a short pointy thing should get bits of broken lens out and a spray with easing oil might help the contacts. The cost of a new indicator stalk will certainly help your efforts.
