Hello! I have a '72 Midget and '63 Minor. The midget is getting a rehab with Cortina spindles and RX7 Calipers/Civic Rotors (with AE86 Corolla RWD hubs). I thought I'd use the Midget brakes on the Minor. I looked at your drawing and decided to put into AutoCad. I can print it out on sticker paper (full scale), trace and make my brackets. I can't make one dimension work. The center to center distance of one pair of holes is shown as 3 1/4". I came up with 3.153" every time. I'll try to attach a screen capture of my drawing....[frame]

I converted to decimal and added a few together (to get into an X/Y format), but the numbers are good. Where in lies the rub? I appreciate your help, Mike

Mike,
The 3.25" is the actual dimension determined by the mounting centres of the caliper. Looking at the Metro drawing, the top caliper tapped hole may not be on the same line as the 1.875" dimension suggests? I will check physically in the morning.

[quote= He really should NOT have towed you with a rope........ they are supposed to use a rigid bar.[/quote]
Reminds me of the "entertaining" ride on my MZ150 motorbike when it broke down on the A1m at Hatfield back in 1975. My girlfriend's father came to rescue us, towed me with a short length of rope all the way back into Cricklewood (during rush hour!) Good thing I was wearing bicycle clips.....

I'd also agree that standard set up with 8" drums is perfectly OK as long as well maintained. Can lock the wheels when pushed too...

The real irony of that recovery experience is that it's NEVER the coil!
