if i put a new wiring loom on the car and stick with the dyanmo will this sujjest then the nothing can be shorting providing i put all the connections on as i will let my auto electriction do it . could this rule out anything of shorting .i would like to get to the bottom of the problem i put a new coil on,hooked up a new earth supply and then changed to an alternator should i change back to a dyanmo and see if the problem is still there ? or does anybody have any clue of what it could be aprat from the alternator. i will put the dyanmo back on today and see what happens.but it has been like this for a little while not and its starting to annoy me now so any help of what it could be will be a great help many thanks

If it spraks(sic) when you connect the battery - then something is running away with the power! You need to find what that is - and i suspect it's where you have messed about with the wiring - first check - take the two fuses out and still leaving the alternator disconnected (that's BOTH wires off) try the spark test again with the battery.

yes it still sparks when i put it on even thoe all fusses out and alternator not connected wht else could it be ?

Do you have a wireless - or an alarm system ?

Is the old dynamo control box still in place ? Possibly a coil is 'welded' closed and is causing a drain? I think your next move must be to remove the control box completely. Join the A and A1 wires all together on a piece of connector block - and remove the box. Now - does it still 'spark' when you connect the battery?

Did you say that you disconnected the alternator and then started the engine?
You have therefore been running the alternator on an open circuit which you were told that you must not do

hello i took the alternator of and put the dyanmo back on and it seems to be fine so all should be good
