I suggested the front suspension check a while back - but 10mm is really not important - and with driver on board - i bet it will be level!

The 10mm horizontal position error of the rear spring front mount will have no effect on the ride height, as the spring will settle to whatever height it needs, based on spring rate and applied load - the rear shackle will accommodate 10mm, and more. It could affect the way the car drives though, as if the rear axle is not exactly at 90° to the longitudinal axis of the car, you could get 'crabbing'.

Where are you measuring the 40mm height difference at? Is it the same at the front and rear?

Before swapping rear springs, the first question is whether both the rear springs are the same type, i.e. 5-leaf for the later cars? If so then I would adjust the nearside front torsion bar by 1 spline, that will lift the nearside of the car by about 30mm and could well correct the height difference you have. I had a similar problem (~20mm) to this when my mother bought ours when it was 6 years old. Replaced the LH rear spring, no effect at all! Adjusted the LH front suspension spline and problem solved!

Thanks for that. I measured from base of rear wings front of wheel arch and back of front wings rear of wheel arch. only the rear near side was out.
Have cleaned and checked springs, they are 5 leaf. Have cut bump stops down by almost 3cm.
It looks as if the front suspension is quite new and I guess it was done when the car was refurbed and converted. It is possible therefore that it has not been set up exactly right and as you say the near side may need a one splin adjustment. I will look at this next when I have some time and the weather is a little warmer. Know I'm a whimp but today was just a little bit fresh!

So are you saying the body is twisted? How can it be different at the back and the same at the front? Are the wings fitted square and was the ground level? How much are we talking?

The difference was only 10mm at the bump stops - the observed difference at the wings is presumably down to a mis-fitted wing!

Hi Guys, Please don't stress over it. I will try the front end adjustment when the weather is better and as on of you said when I sit in it it probably evens up. Do appreciate all you contributions, just longing for some sunshine to get the hood down and enjoy!
