Yes I have slackened off the handbrake cables, in fact, ive taken the brass nuts/springs off etc, to make doubly sure.
Fitted the new cylinder this morning and everythings gone back together a treat, and everything is adjusted back up again. And guess what my handbrake works now. Yippee. Need to bleed the brakes now though to my hydraulics back, but family duties, (ie screaming kids) stopped play time for me.
The old cylinder was in a really bad way actually, it was heavily seized on both pistons and took a fair bit of squeezing together from my trusty bench vice. Its now in a scrap bin.
