Still had no luck with uploading the photos, I must be computer dense or something. Anyway back from hols only to find that the welding company still hasn't shortened my drive shafts. But, have been promised they will be done next week, we shall see, so in the meantime I'll crack on with the million and one other tasks that need to be done.

I hope you have plans to put some more cross bracing and triangulation into that chassis.
Consider the weight of the car at one end, and the power of a V8 on the other, why wouldn't it twist like a pretzel?

yes there will be a lot more metal going in, but at this stage I want to get the drive shafts in position and then line up the front suspension before putting in the outriggers and cross bracing, nice to see someone is keeping an eye out. checked on the welding company the shafts and wishbones have been cut and are waiting for completion.

Try illusion or image wheels they could make you some not as dear as people think

Got the shafts back and got them fitted, I'm really pleased with the result all I have to do now is get the position of the body correctly positioned and sort out how low I want the body to sit. At the moment it's 8" which looks good and gives plenty of clearance for tyres and when fully loaded I should still get a comfortable ride. still cant work out how get photos onto this site %&$£

The rear axle is now in position with just the trailing arms to fabricate, for these I need some suitably sized rose joints the chassis extension for the boot floor and rear bumper is well under way. The inner wheel arches will be welded to the extension and the boot floor will be flat with the purpose made fuel tank sitting above the rear axle, this will give me a very good boot size being just a bit smaller than the original. I can only manage one day a week on it at the moment but I still hope to get it on the road by next spring in time for some moggy meets during the summer. the latest pic is on photobucket.

Got a day on the car over the weekend, I managed to get the front suspension tacked up, the rear springs are being blasted and painted and Ive started welding the chassis to the body. I now need to order some suitably sized coil over shocks for the front. I got my hands on a 5speed box with bell housing and as soon as the front suspension has been set up I will then be able to bolt the box to the engine block to fabricate the engine mountings and form the new bulk head.

Sounds like your coming along well, a few pics of the suspension would be good

I still cant put photos onto here no matter what I try, in fact I cant even put the smilies into the text???. As soon as the trailing arms are onI I will post some more photos onto photobucket but will let you know when. Picked up the gearbox the other day, A 5 speed man I got it with a load of other engine bits as well block pistons heads etc etc. he also had a wade blower which I might be able to talk him into selling, now that would be something to talk about I wonder what the fuel consumption would be. after all this car will be a daily driver

Average just over 30MPG from mine!

3.5 V8 - always been supprised its not too thirsty! Dosent matter how heavy your foot is either!

Auto box saps power and as it's only a 3 speed it's revving just over 3k at 70 - better if it was around 2.5K. However, it accelerates a bit quicker than a manual though.

still waiting for the rear springs from the painters, as soon as they're back on then the suspension will be supporting the car for the first time. I have finished the trailing arms which have a rose joint on one end for fine adjustment. then its onto the front.

The rear suspension is in And I have trial fitted an engine and gearbox so that I can correctly put in place the exhuast manifold, steering column and rack, not to mention the engine and box mounts. Once those items are done I can move on the other zillion things that need doing all of which are custom made. but it'll be worth it in the end.

I have secured a set of tubular ss manifolds from ebay, and I only have to position the steering column around the exhuasts so that I can finally set the motor in place. I am struggling to find a suitable steering rack that will sit in front of the axle line, I have thought about buying a lhd rack and turning it over to the rh side but this will put the spline underneath the rack which would mean mountining the rack higher. shouldn't be to difficult though and then I can move onto the pedal box ( which is from a discovery) and the bulkhead.

I'm using an escort Mk2 rack (narrowed) on my LS powered minor.

I've managed to get hold of an mgb rack, hopefully it won't need narrowing too much but won't know til it arrives.
