could be a little like this:[frame]Image[/frame]
:P - whereas a trailer tent would be more like hammond's pop-out landrover :p[frame]Image[/frame]

This sounds like a bit of a hopeless scheme to be honest. Minors are pretty small cars, so not the best base for a camper van. I've slept in a saloon and it was one of the worst night's sleep I've ever had!

The difficulty of creating a traveller with pop-out sides is that the wood is structural, so you can't just go hacking about without considering the strength of the result.

My advice - buy/make a caravan, and tow it with the traveller! I quite fancy one of those small teardrop caravans that you can make at home.

Or better still, buy a camper van!
That would require a lot of work, a second job and a lot of overtime too I should think.
Worst time of year to buy any of this sort of gear as everyone is having the same idea.
It would be far worse and a lot more work to butcher a lovely traveller to make some unusable traveller/camper monstrosity!

Just buy a camper van- does not have to be a VW, can be a cheaper conversion from a van or buy a small trailer tent.

Have a look around here for a good idea of what is available;

The handy thing with one of these, or a caravan is that you just unhitch the car and drive it away without taking all the washing up with you.

The Teardrops are ok so long as you're not too tall - otherwise the bed section is very restricted :wink:

As much or as little as you like depending highly on your skill, time and facilities available.

Type "teardrop caravan" in eBay search, interesting...

Interesting indeed, the cheapest actual teardrop caravan seems to be £3,995.00.
However it does say;

Bed Length :: 6ft 5

Bed Width :: 4ft
