doubt it'd be a straight swap, dont they all vary in angle of sweep?

Often the gears can be swapped......... But using a motor from a later clap-hands car would be most likely to work.

I have discovered this product, which effectively coats the windscreen with a substance similar to a polish which repels water and does not allow it to form drops on the screen. Works very well, and means I don't have to use the wipers as often in light drizzle.

Aye - mixed reception - bit like Marmite, Love it or Hate it! When I tried it many years ago it was pretty much useless......

I tried it once, it made a slight difference but I didn't bother to re-apply it when the effect wore off and I've since lost the bottle.

I also tried a similar product that was supposed to stop the inside of the windscreen misting up. It made a horrible smeary mess and did nothing to stop the condensation.

Doesnt do much in heavy rain, but in light drizzle, when I am having to switch wipers on and off, it works great, water does not form droplets on the screen, instead runs off and leaves the screen clear

I'm a fan of Rainex, it got me home from the depths of a very wet France without working wipers.
The catch is that you have to be going quite fast to clear heavy drops off the screen, about 45mph as I recall.

It is a faff to apply but I think it's well worth it especially on a minor where the wipers are a bit marginal at the best of times.

Blimey, we had exactly the same story! MOT 2002, Rivier Sur Tarn. Rained all week and the continuous use of wipers ended up stripping a gear in the motor. A friendly MOTer let us use his Rainx and we got home just fine!
