chrisryder wrote:the MOT last year was near the swiss border, we took two cars, and decided that as we were so close, we popped into switzerland to see a friend. it's a very interesting place. we didn't go around much in the minors in switzerland as you need a special pass to travel on their motorways, and it's such a big country, everything is very spread out! we got shown around the lakes and mountains by our host, who took us in his modern car. it's a beautiful country!
We did the 2009 Swiss MMOC rally at Arbon.
Minor Matters did NOT want to know about putting it in the mag though. :(

Since I got Mog, I've dreamt of taking it for a spin on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

South Devon but not in August. I studied in Plymouth 1969-1972.

The west coast of Scotland in May/June. We holidayed there in the early sixties with a Commer camper van.[frame]Image[/frame]
Near Saumur.

Iceland (in the summer) - I'd drive up to Denmark then take a ferry that goes via the Feroe Islands. Seen the state of some of the roads would have to fit a sump guard etc.
- there's a LHD saloon up there which I saw one day, going obviously in the other direction. It had a very special number plate "MORRIS" !!!![frame]Image[/frame]

The Sahara was a great place to drive a Minor!

I was looking to do a south america road trip for many years, but Top Gear beat me to it.

I just have to drive my convertible down the road between St Just and St Ives. And a few others of course.

I think we need proof of people's Minor travels not a wish list.

I have driven a Minor to the South of France on an MOT, admittedly some years ago. Me and Wife and three small kids in the back and I remember taking photos through the windscreen of such sights as the Pont du Gard and Flamingos on the Camargue Coast.

Has anyone taken similar pictures with say the Eiffel Tower or the Pyramids framed by a central speedo, two wipers and a tax disc?

Regards Ian

well this is my minor (far left, amongst others) on the mot 2009, 'Le Drive' ended at the Musee De L'Auto
[frame]Image[/frame]
I can't remember where the museum was, but that MOT was held near La Rochelle, south of Nantes. Proof if proof be needed

I'd probably do a trip I did many years ago. Me and a friend, both aged seventeen, took a Minor convertible across the channel, drove down through France to Spain, back along the French coast and into Italy, over the Alps to Switzerland, Germany,Luxemborg, Belgium, and back to Calais. No credit cards, sat-nav, or mobile phones, just a good car and a cavalier attitude. To digress, I've also taken a Bedford Dormobile to Turkey, a Series 2 Land Rover to Morocco, a Renault 4 over the Alps in February (interesting) down to Naples, and Morris Marina to Greece. Someone mentioned Luton; should I plan to go there?

Front cover of Minor Matters had a pic of the Minor & camels in Sahara - also cover of 'Das Bild' (German equivalent of the Daily Mirror). Crumbs that was 4 or maybe 5 years ago now!! I'm getting so old I can't even remember when it was!
