I dont think your dad could of had the accident in a worse place it looks desolate

It looks very familiar to me. It's not a million miles away from where i did this a couple of years ago :

glad your fathers ok, and youre covered on insurance for repair.
but is it just me or is it a lot more damage than just the roof? looks like the screen surround is distorted.

Glad your dad is ok. Wonder what it would look like if you just chopped the roof off... a convertible Traveller...

Looking at the photo of it upsidedown, that wing, front panel and possibly the inner wing were pushed in during the initial accident, so I doubt if any further damge was done during recovery - at least not to parts that weren't already damaged.
In the absence of any restraining straps and another vehicle to attach them to, I imagine they did just let it bounce down onto its wheels but Minors are very tough, so doubt if it harmed anything too much.

As for the roof, Id use the entire cab section off a doner car unbolted from the rear join to the screen pillers. It'd be a lot more cost effective and satisfactory than trying to straighten out that roof, as the upper screen rail (where the sunvisors attach to will be bent).

They should have taken MUCH more care when recovering the vehicle - I hope they didn't just pull it - and then let it crash down onto the suspension ??

So how would you suggest the car to be put back on its paws???????

Air bag......group of people holding it up as it came over-centre - they have just treated it as being a right-off and have taken no care at all. Typical I'm afraid........

There is grass attached the the front headlight. That got there from the forward travel of the car as it went over in the accident. It is impossible to get the grass there when rolling the car over on to its paws.

As for the way the car was recovered, you do not go to a car recovery mob handed or with specialist air bag recovery equipment.

You keep playing with trains and I will continue to be a qualified recovery driver.

The Recovery folks SHOULD go with all the necessary recovery equipment, including anything required to make sure no further damage is done to the vehicle........ that's surely the idea ? Unfortunately you are just confirming the comment I made earlier........

Good job that I have a Class 1 licence, because if I was working for your recovery company. I would need an artic to carry all the equipment, but then I would have nowhere to put the casualty vehicle.

Indeed it is Steve! I'm sure you do a great job with the equipment you have..... No personal criticism implied I assure you.
As for the car - I'm very afraid it will be 'beyond repair' - it will be interesting to hear if the Insurance Co pay out the full 'agreed' value....... You can buy a very nice replacement Traveller for £5000 these days if you shop around!

Well with all being well it should be getting repaired, the insurance engineer reckons its repairable so I think my dad is sending it off to a body shop in Poole they have 4 morris minors and they said with £4000 pounds the should be able to get it looking smart again. the local MP rolled his Moggy and sent it there so we should be in good hands.

Things could change.

I wonder if the MP charged it to his expenses........? Hope it gets properly repaired! Accept nothing less than 'perfection' - for £4000 !!!!!!!!!

couldn't say, he had one of the lowest expensese claims in the south.

it should get properly repaired but only time will tell. I will keep you all posted.

ooop turns out I'm wrong, my dad said the place the moggy is somewhere for it to be properly asses and the insurance company has said pay do no more than £4000 work to start with. It has nothing to do with my MP he got his roof popped out in a completely different place.

My mistake.

Right shes now at a body shop in pool getting a full assessment of how much it'll cost to repair.

so it can still be written off.

Well this is young campers dad reporting!
Just been to see the Woody at the body shop, roof already pushed out O.K. so should be back on the road in Feb, hopefully smarter than before. Still quite a lot to do. Amazingly the wood is completely sound.
Also note it did not suffer further damage when the recovery turned it over and landed quite happily on the springs.
It wasnt perfect before the crash anyway but is a daily driver.
Not impressed with a Minor's performance on black ice but very impressed with strength of the shell.

Glad to hear everything has turned out well what tyres were you using ??
