Good plan - sensible choice. Didn't realise you hadn't passed test yet! Walk before running! But do chase up the Vizard book - and read it cover to cover - several times.

I will be chasing that Up and I'm still looking for a 12G940 head what engine does it come of an ital or marina? o r other?

Any 1275 - obviously there are more Mini/Metro around than Marina/Ital - but any will do.

Ahh right, my dad has a spare one for his Ital conversion on his traveller, I might be able to charm him into etting me use it, if so what modifications are needed?

Measure accurately the distance from the face of each exhaust valve (clean them off to bare metal!) to the face of the head. You need 320 thou - if any less the exhaust valves will need to be sunk into the head until that distance is achieved.
