Cam & Kevin. The problem for me is that potential branches (Chertsey is the nearest) require a journey on the M25. Currently it takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes each way. Chertsey meet on the second Tuesday of each month, but my shifts prevent me going about 65% of the time (either still working at 8 pm or working early the next day). Hopefully I'll be able to go to the Hillindon show this year.
Starting a local branch would be great if only I had some spare time. At the moment I haven't even got the time to repaint my poor scabby minor...
I'm not surprised at the low level of votes. At any time there are probably only 50 or so regular posters and the total numbers are inflated (by 30-50%?) by those selling cars & parts or asking questions about weddings etc. Perhaps the board could contain a members only discussion section for MMOC matters, but I think the existing board should remain open to all people with an interest in the cars.

Yes, I'm a member too. Joined September '02. I wonder how many members are no longer owners. Both my cars came complete with stickers and keyrings, so presumably previous owners were members. Did they sell their only Mog or did they buy another, I wonder?

Crumbs Nick - that's not easy info to find out!

A lot of peoples memberships lapse, but that's not always due to getting rid of a Moggie. Mine was lapsed when I became a student again in my 20's, but mainly due to a large overdraft.
Quite a few members have more than 1 moggie, (especially on here!

) so selling 1 car doesn't even mean they have to buy an other to still have one ;-)
I'm not sure what's in the Minds of Andrew and Billy but I think its well known that the website brings in a significant and growing proportion of new members. Therefore I doubt they're going to cut non-members off from too much stuff / new stuff as this would limit the 'wow' factor for the newbies.
Mind you, people are always keen to find out what's in the 'member only' section. Maybe this increases the number of people who pay up?
I'm also not surprised at the low number of non-member votes. Many one hit wonders come just to sell a car (or to sell AWC cars

), and the non member regulars are still unlikely to vote
(as a memeber it's something to be proud of so we're psychologically inclined to vote YES)

Count me as one - and I voted!
I have simular reasons as Scott from Aust for not being one.
My logic is some what like this - Since nearly all advertising and some other info is UK based I'd only be getting half the gain but yet still paying almost 3x the cost ($54 NZD approx).
But in saying this, I haven't really taken the time to find out what I'd really gain and never seen a copy of the mag. (Have only seen Minor Monthly).

I've just become a member after buying my parents Moggy off them. Haven't driven it yet, waiting for insurance to come through, and being an impatient 18yr old I can't wait any longer![/img]

I for one have no problem with non members using the site or this forum, we're all Morris Minor enthusiasts at the end of the day.
and non-members can come up with innovative solutions to problems and make suggestions that members don't nessecarily come up with too!!!

Realistically, there's quite a lot in Minor Matters which wouldn't be very relevant to Fweddy & Scott. Better to join your indigenous Minor clubs I would say. I'm glad the MMOC can be a source of help to those abroad and we get lots of good advice coming back to us

.
For £17 a year I think the MMOC is great value for UK minor owners. Six magazines a year, technical help, rallies, discounted parts and this messageboard. Many owners of other classic car marques would kill for a club like ours.

I'm a member as of this week when 'MONSTER' 1952 Series MM arrived.
Good to be 'on board' and looking forward to being involved in the club.

I was a member but lapsed some years ago. Still have the Minor (and use it) but probably won't rejoin the club. Never was very active as a member of any club - not anti-social but rather too busy! This a such an entertaining and useful web site that I would regret it being limited to club members.... this is for me I suppose a club! And I attend every time I log on to the net!

I don't think that's the plan. More like extra features being available for paying members.
