Up-date, I had the fuse/relay unit returned to me after being refurbed (or so I thought) they had it for almost 3 weeks so I presumed that they were doing a grand job on it. B4 I sent it off it only had 3 faults on it no power to the electric windows/no indicators and no heater blower. It arrived back a week last friday morning and by the afternoon I was fitting it in the car. After reconnecting all the cable harness's and reconnecting the battery smoke started comming from inside the car from the unit. I immediatly disconnect the battery and removed the unit from the car. I telephoned the company and got their TECH!! dept and explained what had happened to which he replied what colour was the smoke and where exactly was it comming from to which I replied as the fire service here are retained firemen and that it would take the them about 15 mins to get here I did not think that it was a good idea to look to see where the smoke was comming from. I was asked to send it back to them to recheck but He suspected that the fault was in the cars wiring due to the fact that they had fixed the unit. It was picked up the following monday morning (this week) wedesday I had a phone call from them saying that they checked it over and found nothing wrong and that they would return it to and that I should get the wiring checked out I refitted it this morning just to see if it started smoking again and no but this time there are 2 extra faults, the lights in the footwell stay on and the red reflective light in the door. The fixed 2 of the original 3 faults ( no power to the electric windows,indicators or heater blower) and b4 u say anything yes there is power going to all 3 cables onto the board but nothing on the base of the fuse holder. to over come the lights issue I have removed the fuse's for the time being. I will be ring them am tomorrow, I have already sent them a email.

Thats really not good. Did my old fuse box help you out at all?

Hi Matt, yes thanks its in at the moment although its the same last 3 letters BAA there are a few difference's eg two relay place's missing plus a place for the link were relay 18 should go. I am using it while the issue with BBA is sorted out.

well im glad its helping! I guess the blower motor doesn't work though?

I could go through and read it all again (but im a bit lazy) did you take the fuse box apart and look for obvious water damage?

Hi Matt yes I did, and I found a few issues dry joints,corrosion but nothing that was too serious. It took me back to the days when I was in some corner of various telephone exchanges faffing about with a soldering iron breathing in all those lovly fumes .

the blower works now

Hi Matt your fuse board is still going fine the heater issue was down to a dry joint now fixed. I still have issues with the BBA company and trying to get a refund. They said that the work that they carried out would not cause the other problems that arose, smoke come from in or near the fuse board, interior lights to stay on plus the fact that they only cleared 2 out of the original 3 faults and that I should get my wiring checked out as that was the likly cause. I fitted your board and the car is running fine

Maybe its worth a visit to the Citizens Advice Bureau?

I assume you have told them all is well with a different fusebox?

Hi Matt, I sent them a final email last night, saying that if I do not get any satisfaction then I will me writting a formal letter of complaint to their Head Office. I will wait to see what their response is.

Matt I wish I had listend to phurn of Birmingham . I eventually sent a letter of complaint to BBA C.E.O and eventually got a reply from him with the excuse that my emails must have gone into their junk mail section!!! and that he has authorized a full refund!! for me that was last friday. I will wait and see before I dance with joy. Your relay box has done the trick

I guess I ust be a bodge merchant then!
If it was me I'd just find the wires that feed the disconnected circuits and wire them up off an ignition feed through a fuse.

I'm not a total cowbow as I would definately use a fuse - and for neatness I have been known to use the spare slots in the fuse box to locate the 'hotwired' fuses!
