Well Betty went for her MOT after being stood for 5 years on Saturday and came away with just two failures, one was a small bit of rot in a front chassis leg which I had missed and a tyre (which I kind of knew if I am honest)

Good news is that she drove beautifully with no squeaks or rattles and the engine ran well. Gearbox was smooth and seemed well matched to the engine (looking through the paperwork I got with the car I have found a receipt for a gearbox rebuild just before she was taken off the road which was a nice surprise). Only down side was that the speedo is not working so could not tell how fast (slow!) I was going although she kept up well with the flow of traffic. Must take the sat nav next time and add it to the ‘to do’ list!

It did feel odd not wearing a seat belt so I may look at fitting a pair in the front in the future and I am going to look at the options for fitting flashing indicators to supplement the trafficators as they just seem to confuse other road users! :x

On the whole a good result which means that I can now concentrate on ‘fun’ bits namely the restoration of the paintwork and interior. :D
