Just a thought what is the red rubber lubricant that is for brake rubbers made of as it is supposed to protect the brake rubber components so if applied to a new rubber would it act as a sealer and also stop the rubber from hardening and cracking with age and hence starting to leak

I personally wouldn't want to chance it - especially if you've just fitted a new rubber.

Well, went out in the rain today, having applied the silicone grease yesterday.
Seems to be working a treat.
Absolutely no water coming in at all.
And the rain was heavy.

I had injected it with a syringe, between rubber & glass,on the outside surfaces down both sides and across the bottom.

So, thanks to Longdog for that suggestion.

regards,
Chris
