Had a peek at the chassis plates of both BOM 4K and NFF 79K this afternoon!

I'm cracking up.....10V 451 is in fact STAMPED, not BLUE!!!

this is what 'BOM' has'=;

TYPE/SPEC'N [M-AE5 (blue) ]
ENGINE TYPE [ 10V 451 (stamped) ] [ 308061F(stamped) ] CHASSIS
NO. OF AXLES [ 2 ] GVW [ 1.20 ] TONS BL LOGO
FRONT AXLES 1ST[ 0.55 ] 2ND [ ] TONS "
REAR AXLES 1ST [0.73 ] 2ND [ ] TONS "
MANUFACTURED [ ] GTW [ ] TONS "
TYPE APPROVAL NO. [ ]

BRITISH LEYLAND (AUSTIN- MORRIS) LTD
BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND

BUT...'NFF' (Mailvan) has the GVW as '1.14' TONS and the REAR AXLE AS '0.66'....

sorry for the error, my memory ain't as good as it once was it seems!!!!!

Hi all

Just had a chap after buying the VIN plates which belong to my Postal Enginenring van (which is still in bits).
Seemed to take offence when I told him he couldn't have them!
Ah well ..... takes all sorts.

Hi Chris
Seems he has a van, with no V5 etc - I was quite shocked by his reaction when I told him that I could not part with my VIN plates.

By the way, BWS is now visible in my stores unit as a lot of the stuff around it has been moved - you never know - might even make a start on it soon. Have you got a nice sun visor you could be persuaded to part with?

Not sure if it helps (and you've probably been there already) but this company seem to have quite a stock of different chassis/identification plates and associated stuff. as far as I can tell they do supply the blank plates but will only have them stamped if you can prove, via the logbook, that you are the registered owner. Might have what you are looking for?

Seems to be quite a variety of weights displayed on chassis plates - I have 8 different combinations listed thus far!

0.55/0.66 GVW 1.14 is YET another!

0.55/0.60 GVW 1.14 is "5 series" Mailvan
0.55/0.73 GVW 1.20 " " Engineers

Again, the available blank plate is for a '71 BL van - which has limitations!!
