I have been reading all of your discussion. I have replaced both trunions, replaced bushes on tie rod, track rod ends, I have rebuilt the kingpin re fixed the torsion bar, fitted front telescopic shock absorbers I now have a kingpin that catches the top of the tyre and struggling to get the wheel allignment. Does the problem lie with the torsion bar?

Most likely the bottom trunnion is fitted 180 degrees out.

Thank you for your help, are you referring to when the bottom trunion is screwed to the kingpin,a or are you referring to when the assembly is fixed to the car that the angle must be wrong.

It'll only come into effect when on the car. The top trunnion faces 'inwards' at the top and the bottom also faces 'inwards'. Check with the other side to see if they're symmetrical!

thanks for your help, both sides were off but i do have another morris. The trunions on my old morris seem to be fully screwed so you cant see any thread, the new trunions will seem to leave the top thread exposed, how far should the bottom trunion screw up to.

Full up, then back approx one turn - BUT - it must end up right way round! As must the top one........

That's odd then because the bottom trunion is absolutely tight and will not go any further, where you have a shoulder between the threads, the trunion will not go beyond the bottom thread, lots of head scratching.

The pin with the thread each end, it goes through the bottom trunnion. You need to remove it to let the trunnion screw fully up, then you can put it back through. When it's fully up you must back it off, so that when its assembled its' free to turn both ways.
