I haven't needed to buy loads of parts but having used ESM since 2003, I keep going back, so that must say something. I have had some bits of Bull Motif and some from the Birmingham place (I intend to get a set of their EN24 halfshalfs) and have no complaints.

Bull Motif are superb. Birmingham Morris Minor Centre are ok too. I have not used JLH but have yet to hear a bad word about them.

Unsurprisingly my vote goes towards JLH. While I've used ESM and Bull Motif in the past and have always been satisfied, my experience with Jonathon and Martin at JLH has been one which has, to be honest, been utterly exemplary. They've been incredibly supportive and helpful, offered to pause work when finances have been difficult and their standard of work is just so much higher than anything else I've seen. Not only that, but Jonathon's taken a lot of time out to produce really helpful photographic evidence and reports on the previous restoration which is really above and beyond the call of duty.

To top it off, both Jonathon and Martin are thoroughly nice chaps, and I get a cup of tea and a nice chat whenever I visit.

My vote and I think I can speak for most members here in Northern Ireland. 100% ESM.[frame]Image[/frame]

MMC Birmingham first choice as they hold a big stock have been 100% reliable, telling us when stuff is not yet in stock etc.. BWe have used lots of others too depending on availability (eg on engines)
John Evans for gearboxes
Woodies for woodwork
Newton Commercial for interiors, their modern front seats are worth every darn penny.

Polling has ended if you vote now your vote will not be counted but you may still be charged. The votes have been verified and counted and the winner(s) is.

In the catagory of Parts Supplier Only- A three way tie between Bull Motif, ESM and Tom Roy (despite minor65's efforts at gerrymandering  - I thought 'Vote early and often' had been done away with in N. Ireland :D )

In the General catagory an honerable mention to Russell of RTG Services

But the overall winner by a huge margin JLH - Congratulations Jonathon - no prize and you have to buy your own champagne.

Thank you all for contributing to this light hearted half serious attempt at giving the new owner some clues as to who we think are the best suppliers

Very interesting Bill. Thankyou for a very 'original' post, and a big thankyou to all of those who have given us such a terrific write up. 8)
I'm suprised that so few parts suppliers have been mentioned, must be that those mentioned are doing an excellent job. :D
Over 400 views, (many are probably by the same folk), but only 27 posts, not too sure if anything can be read from this, but its not really a good ratio. All the same its great to read 'positive' comments on the trade, maybe we can do the same for parts.

marcusthemoose wrote:bull motif send all there stuff well packaged and at good prices. they would get my vote, although occasional things are a bit dear.

i cannot comment on jlh, as i have never dealt with them, but if there reputation is to be believed,i am missing out.

bull motif for me, but it would have been esm the beginning of last week
Agreed.

I know it is too late to vote, but I would have given three votes (if this is proportional representation).

1) ESM for their parts supply over the years and the workshop for the excellent insurance repair job they did on my Traveller 18 months ago. (I wanted to do the work myself, but the driver who hit me and admitted fault wanted to go through insurance).

2) Bull Motif for parts supply (when ESM are out of stock).

3) Jonothan for his excellent advice contributions on this forum. (Cannot comment on parts or workshop as I have not dealt with them in that capacity).

What about overseas voices? Like everyone else, I know voting's ended. But it's helpful to add kudos.

For fresh wings -- Heritage! Good quality works, except that the front wings are a little too skinny.
For ease of purchase -- ESM! Their insta-quote and shipping weight thing is great. Honorary mention to Bull Motif here, for their dedication (always a manual quote for overseas shipments).
For shipping speed -- also ESM. Bull Motif does an all right job on small orders, but be prepared to wait a month for larger orders (i.e., wings).
For enviability -- Mr Jonathon from JLH! I envy his intellect, grace, and skill, and the awesomeness of the mods JLH offers.
For sheer beauty -- Newton Commercial. Nuff said.

I haven't dealt with MMC-Birm yet, nor with Tom Roy -- TR due to their not shipping overseas! :o Too bad. So I can't recommend nor decry either.

Only used ESM and last week my order was manual postage, and the postage was never quoted yet good arrived in less than 48 hours without postage charge - I was impressed.

JLH clearly is very active on the forum and always friendly and helpful with advice.

Excellent idea
FWIW a "sticky" is just like a postit note - keeps it on the top of the postings for all to see - and even blind Freddy would know and realise that a "sticky" is no way an endorsement from anyone including the web site. :D

Sorry but the 'sticky' request has been refused by mods
