What about a bootlid strong enough to take a spare wheel mounted on the top to save boot space?

Guys, I am so pleased with the response to this thread and it's very encouraging. I will be running similar polls on other websited to gather more opinions but so far it's all looking good. Keep throwing ideas around

.
Here are a few more of mine,
Bolt in half roll cage
Front wings with frenched in lights + rear wings with 'mini style' freched in lights
I'm building up a huge list of parts from what everyone has been saying.
If you want to see it made available, post it up
Cheers

I like the idea of poitioning the extra dials in the drivers glove box compartment.
A centre console would be good, but there have been problems with past designs due to the floor dip-switch & heater positioning.
JLH do a nice widened dash - how about a design to incorporate a console. To include radio, additionsl power point & even sat nav screen?
Any ideas?

Great idea with the dash. I am thinking of a panel that fits in the passenger glovebox that incorporates a sat nav screen or a CD player. This can be hidden behined the original glovebox door for security.

My mate is able to punch louvres in steel bonnets, boots, flat steel panels etc (variety of sizes I believe). He recently built a rather large machine for stamping them out.
PM me if you are interested.

Just let rain onto the engine! No need on a Minor - there are huge holes either side of the engine bay at the rear to let air escape.

I once did a pressure map of the bonnet using a U tube filled with water. One end of the pipe was taped above the bonnet and the other below in many different places. There was quite a pressure build up under the bonnet. I think I calculated about 50lbs pressure. It also told me the holes or louvres need to be at the front NOT the rear. At the rear the pressure is greater above the bonnet than below. When I modified the bonnet the front felt much more planted around bends at 80mph.
Also ask all the people who have not fastend their bonnet down and had it fly up .......... that also proves that there is a pressure build up underneath.

And so - when most folks add louvres at the back - they are allowing even MORE air to cram in under the bonnet!!!!!!!!!!! Rather than allowing hot air to escape. I think your U tube reading will be more to do with air being compressed onto the bonnet - by the steep windscreen.......... But interesting nevertheless.

those wings with the fillet at the bottom sound good, if i was building a custom now i would be v interested. also the louvered bonnet and boot are really old, gow job, lakes inspired. Roy, louvers are not primarily for function, as ben said, they're just awesome.

oh, and bring back the old side pipes (or lakes pipes!) that fit a moggie's length, and also work on the a series. perspex bonnets too
is there any chance it could be metal panels? i don't particularly much like fibreglass
ben, been rat biking recently?

I think you are correct. What I measured was more an indication of what was happening above the bonnet. But it is a good indication of where to cut holes.
At the front the air rushes up and over leaving a void, ie a low pressure area.
At the rear the air piles up against the windscreen which is why all modern cars have the air inlet for the ventalation system there.

Cheers

There's an article on a radio console in this months Minor Monthly, with template. Not a full centre console though. Has radio/cd. cigarette lighter, etc

Ok guys well here are some very, very early prototypes. I must stress that these are purely so that you can all see how it's going and that these are not finished items.
A selection of dash panels in MDF, Oak and Aluminium for variouse gauge fitments. These will be available in fiberglass as well.[frame]

[/frame]
The first arch. Very, very rough, just so you can see the style I am going for. The extension will be around 3". these will be available in fibreglass and maybe carbon fibre if anyone wants them.[frame]

As mentioned earlier
Not too sure if the Willy's style front would sell, it was dying a death in the late 80's and has never really sold well. Pop Browns already do this panel anyway.

No harm in making some of these accessory type parts available again. However, things have changed since the bureaucratic nightmare of the BIVA test and the ignomony of your car having to wear a "Q" plate and associated loss of historic status and free road tax of the car is modified beyond what the authorities consider acceptable.
By all means make a few accessory parts and see how they sell but avoid the Willis front end or anything that might involve cutting the central monocoque of the Minor and thereby risk the nightmare!
I won't be personally buying any of those parts as I could make those parts or something simmilar myself. But for those without fabrication and welding skills, looks like a good idea.

As far as I understand it, bolt on panels such as wings are ok under the BIVA regs - as they do not form a structural part of the monocoque, so you should (but don't quote me!) be able to get away with a flip front.
That said putting a Willys flip front on will arrouse suspicion amongst DVLA / plod who are in the mood for checking over a car and whilst they might find nothing wrong with the flip front, they might discover the V8 you have tucked away underneath it!
