I believe that is incorrect - the Aldon/Pertronix Ignitor and the Lumenition Magnetronic/Optronic units simply replace the points and condenser with a contactless electronic switch that never needs adjusting or replacing. The current and voltage on the LT side of the coil are roughly the same as you get with a points setup. One of my cars has done tens of thousands of miles with a Pertronix Ignitor and an old Lucas rev counter from an MGB.

The Lucas rev counter on an MGB is not an induction loop type it is the later LV pulse type. Yours has 3 spade terminals on the back which will handle Electronic ignition fine, the earlier induction loop type with a white wire coiled round a plastic fitting will blow. There is no two ways about it. But if yoy want to find a nice old Lucas induction loop tacho & connect it up to a shiny new ignitor go ahead, it's no skin off my nose
