why not mount the bracket behind the face of the kinpin??
gives another 6 to 8 mm

The wheel rubbing issue is mentioned in the instructions supplied with the OB KIT. They do mention use of a spacer and there is no reference to grinding. I had exactly the same problem and a 2mm spacer solved the issue. It would have been nicer if the spacers were part of the kit though.

No need ,just needs designing correctly in the first place
