I've not got one so I've not named one.
Although if I do get a classic car I'll probably name it, a Morris Minor would be a girl no question. Same with loads of other cars, the Allegro jumps out of me because I once saw a gorgeous one on eBay which the seller described as "Annie" all the way through the ad.
I thought it was quite sweet and thought 'Annie the Austin Allegro' was great!
If I get a Toledo/Dolomite I think I'll give it blokes name... but we'll have to wait and see...

Impy, as it was an impulse buy. that's the thing with names though, it doesn't suit him anymore, but that's his name and he will have to put up and shut up!

morrisman1 wrote:Mine dont really get names. The first morry i had was called old blue by its previous owner. it was held together with bog and had a icecream container between the seats to hold his beers in!
next morry is nameless, so is the ute but i thought this one deserves a name:
Blue Streak, named after a british ballistic missile haha

Is that a Morris 10 or XPAG engine? I can see it has four inlet ports and the rocker cover looks very much like the ones fitted to MG T Types.
Back to the original question, my Traveller has aquired the name "Blakes", my father refers to my (Ever so slightly modified) MG Midget as the Hooligan and my MGB GT V8 is usually called simply the V8.

Easy tease 'em with a few nice words as you work away... your moggy will be putty in no time.
I haven't christened mine yet, but on the advice of a previous poster naming after the first owner. Doris seems quite nice... after Doris Mary Viner my moggy's first owner.

My first Minor was already called "Horace" when I bought it (1961 Smoke Grey 2-door). But I knew that it had to be a female car and I'd always thought "Molly" is a great name for a Morris Minor, so she became "Molly" and had a sex change. I did have a lot of trouble with her in the first year - maybe due to her readjusting to her new idendity!
Then after 15 happy years of everyday driving in "Molly", I finally traded her in for "Blubell" - my 1961 Clipper Blue Convertible. The name came with the car and suited her so well I just couldn't change it. My original plan was to restore a Convertible, spray it Burgundy and call it "Ruby", but "Bluebell" is such a lovely car there is no way I would change the colour or the name.

my "new" blue traveller has been named Boris the Morris although #2 son still refers to it mostly as "Mummy blue car" or simply "Blue" - he is only 2 so will learn. My sister was concerned that it was rather too close to Boris Johnson but when I said it was blue, a bit wooden and more than a little eccentric, we both agreed it should definitely be Boris!
My first moggy was simply named Moggy, or occasionally Mog. I always thought she should have a more individual name, but Mum had named her Moggy long before I came along with my opinions!

That was my late mum's name - only it's spelled "Mabel", surely? That's how my mum spelled her name, anyway.
