Jonathan,
Do you get any additional benefit by building up layers, for instance in the doors or boot lid?
As I see that the strips in the door are quite thin, for good reason, but just wondering if having put in one set, then whether a second layer on top would have any additional benefit, or if the benfit comes from the application onto a thin panel.
Thanks,
Adam.

i went to carpet right on the way home today as a long shot, and the guy who served me knew exactly what i needed! - he'd used this same stuff in his mgb gt
told me how to bind it etc, etc.
only £8.99 sq meter.
anyone know how much i need? - just for the floor and under the rear seat
i can't remember the name of the stuff now, but i'd know it when i saw it - i'm going to go and get some asap.
any ideas as to size at all would be much appreciated - mine's being used as a temporary shed atm, and i've got nowhere to put the stuff that's in it while i measure out!
Matt

Have you looked at the areas I suggested; gear lever gaiter, bulkhead etc?
No amount of carpet is going to help if there are holes between the engine bay and your ears.

i have, yeh - all looks to be okay, but i'm going to replace most of the grommets etc after the respray aswell as a precortion - not that expensive, so just doing all i can!

it's not dynamat - although i may use some of this on the doors etc. - it's a bit expensive, though
i'll wait until i get paid at the end of the month and then re-assess, but i'm having to pay autoglass £50 for a new windscreen - i uncovered the car for the first time yesterday since the snow, and the small chip had develloped into a monster crack
but they're replacing the rubber as well, which is perished, so it's worth doing - just something else i didn't budget for :/

Another thing to watch out for is the large felt pad that should be bonded to the inside of the roof behind the headlining. They are stuck on with a type of tar type mixture.... which in the heat, gravity and with time lets go. The roof then turns into a large drum ...... I had no idea the difference it made until I replaced my headlining and rebonded it
It made the whole car sooo much quieter, very noticable, I guess it stops the whole lot resonating.....
