I thought that but the panels are wrong and the Metropolitan grille has a chrome surround.
I was at work so didn't have time in my lunchbreak to find a picture of one... and now feel embarrassed! I mentioned the side view as I rememebred the Met's have shrouded rear wheels - overlooking that they also have shrouded front wheels - and this one doesn't! And the missing air vents undeer the windscreen :oops:

Aside from that it's scary how similar so many 50's cars look! The designers of their time would probably state 'fashion trend' but it does look more like plagarism to me! (Nothing changes much in the car industry! :lol:)

In extreme pedantic mode now, the car in the picture is a Zephyr rather than a Consul. Consuls were the cheaper 4 cyl model and had a smaller rectangular grill and weren't usually two toned. The Zephyrs were a little longer in the wing to accomodate the six cylinder engines. The convertibles were produced by the coachbuilders Carbodies of Coventry later of 'London Taxi' (FX4) fame.
