I do wonder how sites like topworkmen get away with it then, perhaps their lawyers should talk to our lawyers and explain how it's done.

http://www.topworkmen.com/

I would imagine that it probably runs along the lines of when the person signs up to be listed, they give up any rights as far as complaining about what people have written.

EDIT: I got the name of the site wrong, so I've updated it :D

PS: They have categories for car stuff too, maybe we could talk the site into adding a section for Classic Car Suppliers and Classic Car Rebuilders - it would certainly remove the onus on the MMOC to deal with any litigation and the link to the section could be provided as a sticky somwhere.

Alain, although I can sympathise with your reasoning regarding traders and parts I'd urge caution.
I and another trader have unfortunately had to threaten legal action against the MMOC due to a few remarks made on this forum.
It is not fair to air a greivance against a trader regarding their service or parts unless, one, the trader is told about your intention to post and agrees to you posting and two, that any dispute you may have with a trader is resolved outside of the forum, only then can you post your thoughts but keeping it to facts only.
Regarding parts, we now have in my opinion the worst parts quality since I started in business some 15 years ago, however this position has unfortunately been shaped by the Minor owners themselves who generally simply refiuse to pay a fair price for a fair product. In an attempt to achieve the buyers level of purchase, corners have been cut, cheaper suppliers found or simply, the quality parts suppliers have pulled out of our market place altogether.
Its to the credit of the likes ESM, Bull Motif and I'd like to include JLH that you are still able to buy parts which they/we have invested heavily in order to maintain good quality and value.
To simply complain about a product , will not improve it, infact its more likely to find it disapearing from the marketplace with no alternative.
The 'Working group' was begun as a result of three of us suggesting the idea at the 07 AGM, the idea was taken up, but in my mind never really had the right commitment from the MMOC or the Minor owners who had clearly expressed their opinions on this forum, yet none of whom attended the meetings. The main error of the 'working group' was to not include or even invite participation from the trade.
I'm not too sure either that the MMOC would act on any negative trader comments at the risk of lost advertising revenue, plus the majority of traders are not MMOC members and would therefore not see it to be the place or duty of the MMOC to carry out any penalty towards them. Trader /Club relations are somewhat mixed as we have felt to have been the 'poor' relation.
