Well actually I've just looked up Woodies web site and realised how the rear roof is made.
Image

Fitting a steel frame could be a bit tricky. Maybe an ash frame would blend in nicely? If Woodies can do this then it's back to the simple idea of keeping the sides and fitting a roll-back full length sunroof over the ash frame.

Hi Pascal,

I can certainly post as many pictures as you want but I'm probably not the best person to give you exact details of how it was done. I think the main strengthening feature is the roll bar behind the two front seats. I'll get you some pictures tomorrow anyway. Costs I've no idea but all you need to do is speak to Steve Forman of Woodies as this vehicle was actually made for him. The vehicle was their own advertising vehicle and is still featured on their website. Steve will, I'm sure, be more than happy to speak to you. He was looking at the traveller at the recent National rally. You'll find the number on the website http://www.morriswoodwork.co.uk/

Cool, do you have any "in progress pics"?

Now I'm confused! But then I often am  I actually purchased the vehicle already converted so I'm not really progressing anything. All we hope to do is tidy up and restore the woodwork, de-rust the bottom of the doors and just generally make it look pretty - perhaps even make a new tarp for it. My son thought it would be a good idea for you to change the rear seats to face the other way!! Quite a nice idea really - would provide lots of leg-room - although perhaps a bit too querky! As said before this was actually created by Steve Foreman of Woodies in Chichester and I'm sure he would be happy to give you any further info if he can remember - was a few years ago now!

Went to the National and to the Dorset Branch rally in Ringwood but I'm not really a "big" rally person! It's really nice to go along sometimes just to meet people that have been so helpful on this forum. I'm sure we could work something out roughly half way if you want to have a closer look.

I have only done one show this year (usually do about 4 a year)
The Minor has no MOT at the moment but that should be sorted in the next week or so.
I will let you know when im out and about in the minor again and we can meet up :D
(just wouldnt be right coming in a modern lol)

Well, I've talked to Woodies of Chicester and it looks like the full length sunroof is not a good idea. Cutting through the ash roof structure would cause rigidity issues with both parts of the roof, which would be hardly possible to solve with a steel frame.

Maybe I should look for a rotten traveller and make a fire engine replica as part of the restoration project....

Cheers
