Does anyone know if a moggie engine would fit in an A30/35?

yes and gearbox
it uses the same 948 engine and box
and a 1098 will fit as well

Would you want to put a 1098 in an A30? It has been mentioned before that Minors were favored with the rallying crowd as they hold the road better with the steering and suspension differences, even though they were heaver than the Austins. With the power to weight ratio would the Austin cope? I would have thought it would make a lively little runner....

I just thought that if the engine was no good then a moggie engine might do. I also thought that a replacement A30 engine might be hard to find? I'd rather keep baby Austin original, if at all possible.

Possibly call it Steve, after the $6,000,000 man. As you have the technology and capability to rebuild it. lol.

That's funny. I said exactly the same thing to my partner today when we were thinking of names! I used to love watching Steve Austin when I was young, and the bossy Oscar Goldman!

I think I will need to be bionic to do this project. The six milion dollar Austin!

I used to have a black A35. He was called Sylvester. We went everywhere together. I had him for 11 years until my second baby was born and then Jon had to drive him as we couldn't fit the baby seats in the narrow back seat

A30 had the original 803 cc engine - which then found it's way into the early Minor. Since your car sports an SU carb (with sporty racing - but useless - air filter) I'm guessing the engine has been changed - to a 948 or possibly 1098 - can't see any detail in the pics. Problem with A30/35 was the narrower track than the Minor - which Issigonis identified and sorted with the Minor late in it's deveoplment when he famously added several inches width to the car!

i would think with the 35 id to drive it up on ramps and do the engine
