The battery problem was a bit of a red herring
Sent the unit for repair but was reported unfixable - corrosion (water damage)! They sent a new replacement unit with an accompanying note to "check the car." (Full marks to Kenwood and their authorised repairers).
Ah - I thought - the windscreen leak, now fixed, new rubber seal etc. So will be o.k.
Fitted replacement radio great, until today. Car was out in rain all night. Entered car - water on parcel shelf, yes under the radio. Removed l/h glovebox and radio unit. Dried it out, fortunately o.k. Source of further leak under l.h. wiper wheelbox embelisher.
Checked bonnet hinge/body joint at same time, it's dry.
So it follows, don't assume that any water is coming from a single identified place
- check all possibilities.
I don't think I would have got away with a second replacement radio/c.d.
Fortunately a satisfactory outcome.
