I would anticipate that this would be the case before booking. If this is a website rally surely the MMOC would back it and provide the adequate cover, wouldn't it

The message to you was sent on behalf of the committee.
The first question I would ask is why could the committee not contact me through the correct channels, rather than through a non committee member?

Secondly to answer your first point, no it did not make reference to website rallies, but the same rules must apply, i.e they have not been organised by branches, and they have not been formally sanctioned by the committee.

Finally, I am amazed that you as a webmaster, and Lou as a committee member are permitted to make these comments on here. When I was on the committee I was asked not to, as I was in effect representing the club. Perhaps you have their permission, minuted in the committee meetings?

I would hope so, similarly the LEO and/or MOT-UK.

Lets stop squabbling.

I will investigate the possibility of this with the museum early next week.

It would seem that the 26th would not be an appropriate day, so I will avoid it

I think that if you're arranging it Matt, you should simply ask the club in writing to recognise it as an official MMOC event. Safer for all concerned. I have done exactly this for MOT-UK.

Thats more or less what I am planning Bill.

Looking at the days it will be 19th April or 10th May. I have contacted the armouries museum to ask their permission for this, although its free entry and there is free parking opposite. I have also asked if it would be okay to park on site.

Poo, I am away on both those dates.

Griff is pally with the Armouries events manager, Mark Selwood; let me know if you want me to get Griff to oil the wheels; he is meeting Mark on Wednesday :D

Apparently there are daily firings of the 25-pounder so you could in theory get a lineup photo opportunity with that gun, if Mark was into the idea 8)

Incidentally, as I understand it, there's nothing to stop people organising whatever rallies they fancy; the lack of PLI is not an obstacle. As long as people taking part understand the position, and have their own standard car insurance, there's absolutely no problem. Rallies of this type aren't "events", and therefore don't need PLI.

I assume that the Series MM Register is officially recognised or else that is another rally down the pan. One way of thinning out an overcrowded calendar.

Maybe you should clarify this with them Mike.

However I still seem to recall that the subject of Club insurance was discussed on more than one occassion in the past, and that it was stated that where two or more MMOC members were gathered together with their cars, the event would be covered by MMOC liability insurance. I also believe that this was minuted, I shall delve further.
