Ok to put in the resolution to this problem, which turned out to be a simple one... I cant believe I missed it and burnt as many days as I did.

It turned out It was simply the adjusters on the rear drums, once adjusted tight up to the drums so the wheel is locked tight, there is next to no travel in the pedal. Then I decided to click back each side just one, on the drivers side this is a problem as it will insist on clicking back two notches, no matter how much I try. So I now know what the problem is, the adjusters on the rear drums, now I know what it is I'm not so worried and Im am going to get some new adjusters and see if this puts the problem to bed, currently I find I get good pedal even with the travel on the first application, so its just one of these nigly things.

many thanks for the advice, 'im learning lots about my minor :-) BTW she has now done about 800 miles for me since Ive had her.

Seems strange that just one extra click would make the difference ! Try swapping the adjusters over - side to side. May just put that 'two clicks' adjuster in a different range where it will allow 'one click'.
