Hello.
I have changed the water pump and what i found was a mess.
The impeller was barely there.
It looked like a small food blender blade and it was covered in crud.
The water in the engine was rusty.
The Radiator core is rusty too and some of the fins come off if you touch them i think the cooling system needs refurbishment.
I initially replaced the thermostat with an 88'c version and the heater was amazing only then to find that one of the core plugs was starting to weep "maybe to the increase in temperature i dont know"
I will now start a new post about that problem.

As mentioned in the other thread - the waterpump and core plug most likely both died due to corrosion (often due to lack of antifreeze)
