They come in flat type as well (the almighty L488)

Ahhh - but 'bee-hives' in genuine glass (not ghastly cheap plastic) are so much nicer!

I don't like them... I have proper glass flat L488s. Looks the part, and was standard fitment in the early sixties.

Yes - I know - have a few 'spares' myself somewhere! But I still prefer the bee-hives!

I used to have them on my car, front and back, all of those have now been replaced with flat ones.

If your going to use the orange bulbs the common type have offset pins to prevent the wrong bulbs being fitted to clear lens indicators but orange parallel pin bulbs are available

tbh I don't like the bee-hive ones either, I much prefer the flat type. Anyway, the possibilities are endless, I'll keep exploring

Fitted Lucas L488 flat fronted lamps with clear lenses and 21w chrome/silver bulbs which flash amber to the front of my 1954 Rover P4. This does not spoil the look of the car like the amber beehive type, but are just as effective

Just fitted a replacement set of parallel-pinned orange 21W bulbs to my Saab, so yes, easily available from a decent motor factor.
£2 each though!

I have got combined sidelights/indicators.
MOT man did not have any problem with white flashers.
