Well, the club have plenty of right hand ones (unsure if they are new or recon), they have just the one left hand but it has no stub axle.

ESM, stub axles are available seperately and I'm sure could be obtained from a similar supplier. Early kingpins are no good for later cars as the stub axles are the wrong size. Besides there aren't many left either, its just that demand is almost nil.

So ^^^^ here's the solution for this thread.
For others - can the later stub axle be fitted to early king-pins ?

There are no where near enough early swivel pins to do this though and I doubt they'll be made again.

Indeed not - so if you have a car using these king pins - grab some spares NOW!

I don't like shouting... but DON'T EVEN think about it!

What about all the early cars?

I meant - for the EARLY CARS - owners of these should grab the new kingpins while they are still available!

Sorry Roy, my fault, I'm a bit protective of the early cars, too many have been ruined by lack of parts.

Not strictly true Mike. The later Series 2 cars had no boss above the steering arm either but had the larger/later size stub axle and hub set up.

Well you learn something every day. I can't imagine that there are too many late Series II swivel pins going spare though.
I still think the ultimate solution is to convert the MM hub to take M1000 swivels, when the next batch becomes available.

The new ones from the club are £60 plus postage, but they don't have the stub axle fitted. You have to press out your old one and fit that, so if you don't have the machinery that's added cost. This is how Morris supplied them, so they are NOS. But they only have right handed ones!

I have opted for the reconditioning route, popped down my local motor factors, he made enquiries and found somewhere that will do it for £57 inclusive of VAT. So I get my original pin, with a new thread, he did say that it will be a good quality steal that they will spray on, so it won't be no back street throw together. :)

Oh yes, I'll have it for the weekend too.... so if this was my daily car it would have only been off the road for a week.

I would recommend this route if you are struggling for swivel pins.

Except that the 'spray-on' steel does not have a great reputation!

Well it will hopefully keep me going for a while.

Indeed - fingers crossed! Use Moly grease - and plenty of it.
