Good to see that at least some of the committee are viewing and responding to their official website.

Anyone going to the AGM?
I'm going.

What time will the cavalcade be happening?

Are you actually joking? I see your smileycon.

It worries me that I have heard folk say this in a serious manner.

I feel worried about suggesting ideas incase it looks like I'm attempting to rock the boat when in fact I am not.

Why are some of us concerned about offering our opinions? I'm not asking to revive any old conflicts.

I just worry if we can't discuss all issues that arise.

Of course we will not always be in agreement. That is to be expected/accepted.

I am going to take a serious plunge and state one of my concerns:

It's about the committee. Is it possible to consider a different method for members to be elected as a committee member?

This is in no way saying anyone is doing it wrong. Just that I understand some people would like to experience those positions.

Maybe on a rotation basis. And apply before the AGM [?]

At the AGM, I would find it difficult to say .... actually I'd like to be elected when I've heard existing members say something like....if there are no objections I'd like to remain in office.

It would sound like I'm objecting to that person rather than I'd like to serve the club in that position.

Does this make any sense? It's hard to express it clearly via the internet.

I really apologise if this is clearly stated somewhere.

Thanks for e-listening.

I must admit that I feel the same way as it appears that many of my ideas and suggestions on here are regarded as negative criticism, which could not be further from the truth. As for conflicts, in my view these achieve nothing that cannot be achieved through proper discussion and compromise.
Squiggle wrote: I just worry if we can't discuss all issues that arise.
This is why I made the point of members notifying the committee of specific items prior to the AGM.
Squiggle wrote: Of course we will not always be in agreement. That is to be expected/accepted.

This is very true. However if specific and fundamentally sound suggestions are put forward, which seem to have the support of MMOC members, although maybe not the committee, perhaps members comments should be sought through Minor Matters.

Here is a very good example that I too have heard expressed by members. But if it is to be raised, then it must be notified to the committee in advance. However I would like to mention that word again, 'committment'. When I joined the committee, I was very committed to doing everything I could to improve the club for all its members. I still have this commitment, however I must now try to achieve this from outside of its ranks unfortunately.

Any MMOC member may submit a resolution in writing to the committee (secretary) 28? days before the AGM. It is then on the agenda and must be discussed and resolved.
Correct me if I'm wrong Bill

I hope not.
If anyone has any concerns then submit them in writing and they must be discussed. It will be too late moaning about it afterwards.
