It's a lot easier to sink those exhaust vales !
yes, I'm picking up the cutters this weekend. I thought It'd be better than wielding a dremel at the block. I think I'll measure lift (standard cam) then clearance and sink accordingly.
I think I'll use the cutting disk to cut the manifold and clean it up with the grinder.
looking forward to extra umph. I do need to find a HIF38 and K&N cheaply though.
This is as close as I'm going to get to a 1275! At 55BHP (or thereabouts) it must be halfway between that and a standard 1098

Crikey, that looks great. Not sure if I could do it that neat. I'd need a cutter and drill press.
That looks about 5mm, do you have a high lift cam?
What about blocking and redrilling the waterway that I heard about? Did you do that to prevent Head Gasket failure?

Errr - the picture is not mine - I stole it off ebay! When I did the pockets it was no-where near as neat as that.
I found one waterway in the block that didn't match up well with the 1275 gasket - so I put a lump of silicon sealer in the hole and fitted the head. That was 3 years and a good few thousand miles ago now - no overheating and no other problems either.
