Thanks Andrew, that's an excellent article. The Minor speedo is pretty much the same construction apart from the missing trip odometer.

Didn't you say the speedo is calibrated for a 4.55 diff? Just try it and see.

Yeah It's the speedo out of my van - I only have the one (if you discount the one I bought for 5p at last year's autojumble because it had pretty sparkly glass on the front )

I read somewhere that on A35's you need the 4.22 diff to make the speedo accurate, even though the 4.55 is the correct ratio for the car. Perhaps it's the same for Minors.
