Yes Pete we did discuss Denzil a lot and to be honest that's not the route that I want to go. I have a heavily tuned Minor and so I want a standard one too. I fancy an ORIGINAL series 3 (probably a traveller) and as such it would have a 948cc engine. I also have a 918cc sidevalve Minor (MM) and that will be used for pootling about and shows etc but I could not possibly use it daily!!

I guess what I want is something in between the two, something standard that can be used daily if need be, so I can chop and change according to mood! In doing this I hope to have my cake AND eat it!

But Denzil was standard. A Standard Mini, Sprite, Minor mix.
:D

Seriously though, you're right to pick out the 948. It is a peach of an engine when it is on song, so quiet and smooth. The 1098 is a plodder in comparison. If you don't live in an area that is too hilly it would be an ideal alternative to a fully modded car.
